Power steering issues
I have an 87 non turbo the steering is tight/hard to turn and suddenly frees it self and works normally.Was leaking,high pressure line changed a few months ago,but has been erratic,any suggestions?

have you checked your power steering fluid level? sounds like it's low....

Thanks for the response,right now I have garaged car and seriously considering swap to 7mgte and 5 speed tranny,dont have the time right now work seminars is taking priority

Check the belt tension. It could be slipping intermittently causing the weird steering feedback. Also check the belt condition and if it's polluted with oil.
