350hp
I just bought a 1990 MK3 Supra and I was wondering the best way to get to 350hp... I have the non-turbo 7M-GE engine. Hope yall can help me out thanks

turbo = only way

yeah turbo is the only way to feasibly get that much power... i realize that after researching it for hours... i have a 7mge also and was wanting more power, just gonna do a stock rebuild for now
|
yup, it is possible to build a "7M-GE(T)" but to be honest by the time you've faffed round with building and setup and crap you may as well just fit a full on GTE setup... although the GE bottom end is identical just needs turbo oil feed/return opening so if yours is known good with perfect hot oil pressure etc. and you can get hold of a knocking GTE engine plus ECU, loom, intercooler/piping you could do it that way...

There are two significant differences in the bottom end that you forgot.
1) the GE runs a higher compression ratio which isn't safe (at least not with cast pistons) on a turbo setup 2) the GTE uses oil squirters to help cool the pistons (this REALLY helps ensure a longer life with cast pistons). I've turbo'd a GE and it is far from a good choice. |
?
So if I do an engine swap I will also have to swap the transmission? In that case why not go for the 1JZ or 2JZ?
|
No the auto and manual both bolt to a 7m motor.

Ok
So my w58will bolt right on to a 7m-gte?

As for why no do a 1JZ or 2JZ? They're still a lot more effort and money and the 7M is still a good engine. |
