7MGE Throttle Body
Hi all, I'm from Kuwait and need an advice. I have a 1991 Toyota Crown that uses a 7MGE engine. I need a throttle body for it. the part number of the throttle body is 22210-42350
My question is, can I use any 7MGE throttle body for it? from a Cressida or Supra? thanks |

The upper intake of the 7M-GE from the Supra and the Cressida are quite different. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to any interchange databases to look it up for you. I'm pretty sure the Cressida throttle body will fit but I do not know if the Supra's will.
Looking at the published parts catalog the Supra's will not work... or at least Toyota says it was only used in the Supra. 22210-42310 for the A/T and 22210-42300 for the M/T.

The gasket on the Cressida one looks different (#22271) while the Supra one looks nearly the same ! does this diagram help? Crown Throttle body; Cressida Throttle Body; SUPRA Throttle Body; Last edited by Mar1; 12-05-2010 at 05:39 AM. |

You can't rely on the technical drawings from a parts catalog for ush info.... BUT, seeing that it looks like the throttle body for the Crown is most similar to the Supra's TB and not the Cressida.... does the Crown have the ACIS system? Do you have a picture of your engine with the intake all installed and present?

The intake system looks very similar to a Supra. In the technical drawings, it looked like a few vacuum ports were slightly different, not sure if the drawings are entirely accurate or if those differences would matter. Overall, I think it looks like a Supra TB would probably work

The ports that would be different are the EGR lines. And yeah, looks just like the Supra's 7M-GE, I'd be surprised if it couldn't be made to fit with minimal effort (if it doesn't bolt right on as is). I thought the ACIS system on the 7M was unique to the Supra, thanks for showing me this!
Actually, the part number for some of the European market and JDM 7M's may be the same, I'll I've got to go by are USDM part numbers.

Thank you for your replies guys, actually I tried yesterday to order the Supra throttle body (part number 22210-42310) from parts.com but they replied saying:
"Hello, The item you ordered is currently on national backorder. The manufacturer currently has no inventory on hand and there is no ETA of availability. Your order has been cancelled. Thank you " I'm surprised ! anyone knows a place where they sell it? (new) |

I have no idea... I don't even know if you'd be able to source one anywhere... 7M parts like this are hard to come by and haven't been manufactured for a long time. You may need to buy a used one.

in October 2010 I tried ordering the part from Toyota Japan through our local dealer in Kuwait and Toyota replied that this part is discontinued and can not be supplied, that's why I went to parts.com
but just 30 minutes ago, the original part (22210-42350) was found in a neighbor country Qatar not cheap probably for $500 or little more. it'll be in Kuwait in 2 days by the way Kuwait's version of the 1991 Supra uses exactly the same throttle body as the Crown (22210-42350) Supra Kuwait Throttle Body; |
