What's the importance of this part?
(Pic is attached)
When I was reassembling the motor today, i came across that the plastic part broke off. It also looked like it was not hooked up right anyways but i noticed there are two of these on a 87 non turbo model. I'm curious if i continue hooking the rest of the motor and get this part later( possibly even start the motor without it)? Thanks |

Looks like the fuel pressure VSV (vacuum solenoid valve) can’t be certain with out tracing the vac pipes to where they terminate. Unfortunately your attachment doesn’t increase in size enough to check that out.

Found it Link, I’m not absolutely sure, but I think it increases the fuel pressure at start up, by detecting low or high vacuum. I know they are made by Denso and cost a fortune from Toyota.

When I did my hg I broke the vsv for the butterfly in the intake manifold. I ended up getting one off a vibe of all things over at twosrus near me. Toyota has not changed the plugs they use over the years so you should be able to get one fairly easily. The only thing you may have to do is get alittle creative with the mounting of it.

Its a rebadged matrix. Visually it is a pontiac but it is really a toyota. A vibe GT actually has a 2zzge with a 6 speed which is where my motor came from because I misshifted the celica a while back.

If the Vibe won't do (just because of the donor's name) then get a VSV from Mercedes... they're still half the price of a new one from Toyota for the Supra.
