Shop upgrades (PRICES QUOTED) !!!!SUSPICIOUS!!!
So this shop near me was saying for my mk3 7mgte supra that has aem intake and 3'' cat back..
They said.. AEM true boost gauge/controler Air fuel controller down pipe ??TUNE?? <---WTF TOTAL 1600 (ALL LABOR INCLUDED, LABOR IS 90 per HR) So, the red flag came up with the ??TUNE?? included part.. How can they do a tune on a nearly stock car.. Don't I need a different ignition system, or a stand alone of some sort... What do you guys think... BESIDES DO IT YOURSELF I figure aem = $300 air fuel controller gauge = $130 down pipe = $400 TOTAL $830 (PARTS) So there is $770 in this so called LABOR.. Maybe the price includes the tune.. If there is any tune.. Thats 8.5hrs.. I called another reputable shop like this one (BTW they both do high performance cars only), the other shop said 2hrs for the down pipe with no issues.. ($180) So that leaves the boost controller install and the air fuel gauge setup.. There is still 6.5 hours remaining for the work.. That's $585 sitting out there left.. How does it take 6.5hours to do the boost gauge and air fuel gauge.. Maybe for me but not a pro.. LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINIONS!! |

dude theres have to be a shop around that will do it for way less , what about a muffler shop? maybe they will take you like around 100 to 120 to install it. MAYBE , it can be less, just ask them and see it your self.

Ya I ended up calling a few muffler shops. Ended up talking to a performance muffler shop. They ended up quoting me 80-120 install and 150-200 for the custom down pipe! I was down with that! So about the "TUNE"!
Can you "TUNE" a supra mk3 that has stock electronics?! Don't you need a stand alone or piggy back? |
