considering switching cars...? opinions?
i just got my first 1987 Toyota Supra with a single turbo. needs some body work and thats just about it... stock engine with 143k miles.
my nabor offered to sell me his 1991 Nissan 300zx non turbo for 500$ but it needs new fuel injections. i was wondering if i should sell my supra and fix the 300zx. any opinions? |

check the faq for new buyer points.. checking over whats the most common problems.
fuel injectors can be had for rather an inexpensive sum.

They are both old cars and you give very little info on either ones condition which make a decision rather hard.

well my supra is in great condition. no engine problems so far... everything on the engine is stock with 143k miles on it except the radiator and the power steering. the body is in need of work with a dent in the front left bumber from where i got backed into and then some other small gouges and what not.
the nissan 300zx has no scratches or dents or anything wrong with the body. the engine is amazingly clean except the fuel injections that went bad. the clutch has just been replaced by Nissan. it is one of my nabors who offered me his 300zx for so cheap.... i was going to have my supra painted and body all cleaned up but now im considering taking that money and buying and fixing the 300zx.... idk what i should do....? |

I'd say stick with the Supra. Usually if somebody is giving away a car cheap that's in good condition that needs "just this" to run, there's probably much more wrong with it. Besides, have you tried to work on the engine in a 300zx? There's not much room to get your fingers past the intake plenums.
The way I see it, you have an idea of what's good and bad on your Supra, so you know what to expect. Keep fixing it up and enjoy it.

Don't waste your time with a non turbo 300zx.. Turbocharging that one and such will cost you the same price as getting a good condition 300zx already turbo. Twins to be exact.. Anyhow, 300zx is ugly inside. Outside is pretty cool. I would pass this one up. Definitely go with something small. Maybe a 2007 350z. 306HP from the start and they look nice. 2007-2009 have twin intake. Anyhow you can turbo it and get easily on stock internals 450hp. Bump up the stock internals and the sky is the limit. besides that you get a newer engine..
Hope you change your mind on this though.. Supra sales where low compared to the cars you see on the road today. This means less people with the same car as you, more attention, and well.. YOU GET TO STAY ON THE FORUM AND CALL YOURSELF A SUPRA OWNER. Quote:

well i know for a fact that im going to keep my supra... i love it too much to sell.
but i am considering buying this 300zx and fixing the fuel injections and then sell it for more... that way i have more money for my supra. but if anything if i dont sell the 300zx im ganna eventually sell it to my younger bro who loves those cars. i think id be a moron to pass up a 1991 300zx for lik 500$... i could part it out and get more than 500$ |

Ya I would part it out if it is not a simple fix or rather you think it could be more than just what the neighbor says.. Then part it out.. Shoot for 500 bucks you could start a youtube page (LIVE RUNNING VIDEO), charge folks to subscriupbe and you can buy the 300zx and set it on fire with a perfect WAX replica of yourself. BAMM! Instant sensation when you reappear from your "DEATH" 6 months later! IM RICH BIT$H! |
