Whats the problem??
I have a 1990 toyota supra turbo 7MGTE. I was driving and yes I was switching the gears myself through L, than to 2 and D. (I wish I had manual). But i was switching gears and I went from L to 2 and my car stopped revving. When i stopped the car and looked under the hood, Now the engine is moved forward and the belts are closer than what they were before. And there was smoke coming from the engine over by the throttle and the spark plug wires. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Im not selling it and I was thinking the same thing! And now it seems like it wont shift gears at all, like it takes of normal but once it hits 20mph it wont go any faster!

perform a transmission diagnostic and see what that yields. http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...aspx?S=AT&P=13 its most likely since everything shifted your manual linkage is out of adjustment.

TBH if the motor mounts are bust & the lot has shifted forward it could be that the shifter got pulled out of adjustment & that's why it won't work properly now (though if it was my car I wouldn't TRY to drive it with 240 horses hanging free under the lid!). In all honesty I'd call this a perfect excuse to swap a manual in anyway since that's what you want anyway, since the only sensible thing to do if the motor's come free while driving is to remove the whole drivetrain (or at least motor/tranny/prop & visual check rear mountings) to check for other damage such as cracked block/box, ripped wiring, torn sheet metal near mounting points etc as a whole lot of strain could have been put on virtually anything down the drivetrain from a failure like this...
Hope it's worth fixing else green's offer seems pretty reasonable if it's a breaker.

Don't you have a ECT botton next to the shifter? I've found it will hold it to close to redline through the gears with it on.
