just recently dropped a new 7MGTE engine in my 89 turbo supra less than 1000 miles
everytime i try to start this car it takes anywhere from 5 to 20 times to actually start the motor sometimes i even have to clean the mass flow sensor just to start it and then it starts still hesitating im thinking i need to replace the wiring to this sensor if anyone can help me or have any suggestions plz let me know thank you very much |

DO NOT CLEAN IT!!!!! It is not a MAF type sensor it's a KVAFM (Karman Vortex Air Flow Meter); They're OPTICAL!!! You can completely ruin it. If you've tested it per the TSRM and that all pans out then check if someone in your area might have one you could swap in to test with.
Have you checked for diagnostic error codes and fuel issues?

mass flow connector and wiring
me and a friend used an electrical spray to clean it and it worked for a little bit but i did notice the actual wiring is twisted and looks messy due to the fact that it probably still is the stock components
i havent done that yet because recently our trusted mechanic did one of my friends a lil dirty and in the process of finding a new one to run a diagnostic i was thinking of going to the junkyard and replacing the whole thing and see if there is a change and just keeping the old one for now it has been starting a lil better lately after i used the electrical spray Last edited by italian89supra; 01-10-2011 at 07:12 AM. Reason: i have added a cutout exhaust, glowshift boost gauge and hks bov |

Electrical contact spray isn't what you use to clean optics... crap, you don't even know what you're cleaning.... but you seem to know know otherwise, so why are you even here asking if you've already got the answers? Check the damned codes and post what you find, maybe someone else will help you out then. Good luck with the car. Ciao!
