rear rattle from the the rear wiper
How do i get rid of that annoying rattle coming from rear wiper arm? it seems that it gained excessive play from slamming the rear hatch (blown hatch struts). Should i replace the spring in the arm or do i need to tighten it down?

Probably just tighten it down. It could be the wiper arm loose, or the motor's hold-down bolt may be working itself loose.
I had mine torn down recently, and the hold-down nut is under a few things. First, remove the wiper arm, then loosen and remove the first big nut under the arm. This will let you take the metal dome cover off and expose the actual hold-down nut. Then, you can tighten it. I sanded and spot-filled the rust pits on my dome cover and wiper arm, and gave both a nice few coats of Ultra Flat Black. I was lucky that the dome cover had no rust-thru spots. The hold-down nut was nice, clean, and rust-free, thanks to a good seal all these years with that dome cover. |
