V8 Swap, Keeping it Toyota
I searched the forums and didn't see anything pertaining to my question, so here goes:
I have an 86.5 that runs pretty good, but it has bad rings and the main seal is going, so keeping oil in it is getting expensive. I was thinking of possibly doing a V8 swap to a 1UZ-FE out of a lexus. It's a 4 liter with 256 HP if it came out of an SC400. I can find them all day long for around the same price as a JDM 7MGE including the ECU. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this swap, and whether or not it would even fit? Also looking for any suggestions concerning taking on a project like this. I'm not scared of trying it. I did my very first head gasket on this car (which many people say NOT to do) and it worked out brilliantly. I know many people say "keep it Supra", but at least I'm not committing a Supra fowl by putting an american engine in it. Your thoughts? Anyone? Thanks |

Plenty of people have done it. You'll find a few over at supramania.com... Check in the swaps section; I think there's a swaps section specific to the MKIII section on there.
