help with passing emissions
ok so i live in california and went to get my supra smogged( i hate it) and it failed the emissions part badly. and i also found out that my timing was advanced at 24 degrees BTDC. so my question is what is the best and quickest way to test my egr for correct operation and will my timing being that advanced cause me to fail also. any other ideas are welcome so i can pass this stupid test.

24? advanced?! In what way did it fail? NOx? Did you remember the diagnostic jumper before testing the timing?
http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...ction=FI&P=118 You should read through the diagnostics for the full system: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar....aspx?S=EC&P=1 |
yes it was and its at 24 degrees BTDC when it should be 10 degrees BTDC.

Check your mechanical timing first. That much advance and you'd be overheating if something mechanical wasn't off too..... or you've got the god of all cooling systems.
