Dont know where to start! :(
Im new at this so cut me some slack. I have a 90 N/A MK3 Supra, and I dont know where to start with mods, but from previous post it sounds like the only way that I can get the disired power I want is to do an engine swap. (I would like to get around 350-385hp). Im leaning toward buying a 7M-GTE engine and having my dad (a 20 year Toyota tech) do the swap. I would just like to know where the best place to start is.

Parts I would need
Complete Engine -
5-Speed Transmission - ECU - Harness - Turbos - Intake Manifold - Exhaust Manifold - Alternator - Starter - A/C Compressor - Power Steering Pump - Throttl Body - Clutch - Fly Wheel - Pressure Plate Is that all I would need to swap out my 7MGE for the 1JZ? Cause thats the package Im looking at right now... It cost about 1900 I just dont know if thats all I would need. |

You'll also need a R154 driveshaft... if you're installing a R154 or course. You'll also need all the electrical components including the wire harness (which will need to be lengthened) and ECU.
The JZ swaps are more involved than a 7M to 7M swap and I don't advise them for the inexperienced; It's nothing killer in my opinion, but I've seen plenty of people sell off their swap project, half finished, because they couldn't hack it.

The swap took me a week including extending the harness which took 3 full days of soldering, checking. And depending on the year your supra is u may need custom mounts. You will be lookin more like 4k ish if you do it all yourself that's what it cost me start to finish. If you can't do it all add 800 for harness work at supra store. By far the best and cheapest route in the long run is to buy a front clip then you have all the little things you couldnt possibly think of like the front bumper support that is shaped different to fit the bigger intercooler.. and that is one of many pieces you would be stealing from a clip.. it will at first look like your spending more money. But once you see how many things u need from it you will he glad you did. Not to mention you can see how it went together when your tearing it out. BTW. It is one PITA to move the clip. And like CRE also said in stock form the jz isn't a night and day difference. But its def. Is faster then an OLD Worn 7m. But mod to mod. The jz will win reliably! And another plus is you don't have to replace the headgasket before you put it in the car...... BUT. From my personal experience you SHOULD replace the clutch, master and slave cylinders. And I would highly recommend valve seals... I ignores the valve seal advice I got and as soon as winter hit. As sure as bears shit in the woods they started leaking. LIKE CRAZY! Here is a link that will give you a list of other things you need to buy... http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...-gte-swap.html

Just noticed you said u have a 90 so no custom mounts needed. Direct drop in. Except for your fire wall needs to be tapped in about 1/2 inch for rear turbo.

i believe the firewall needs tapped in only if he is doin a 2jz....he could also use a turbo lsd rear differential....correct me if im wrong, but with a 1jz swap, u could drill a hole through the firewall under the speedo, send the wire harness through there and flip the ecu so that the plugs are on the leftside...

For the 2j your lookin atleast 3 inches in about a 6" diameter area. The harness through the speedo hole is rumored. But It would be very difficult to route it into the correct location IMHO. But there is guys in cali running them that way!
