hey everyone, my coworker just gave me a 88 non turbo auto supra. he thinks that the head gasket might be blown. i own a vw R32 and come with alot of knoledge of that , as well as muscle and some honda experience. but that does not help me here any. any suggestions on what i should do. i just want to get it running right now. for work and back. eventually, i want to have either a turbo kit or preferably a jdm supped turbo motor. please feel free to respond, spare the flaming please

what on earth would we flame you for
you haven't given us anything to flame you for...... yet :P

now to your 7mge

just get a new stock gasket from toyota & brand new head bolts form toyota or you could spend the money and get arp head studs.... either way should work well
when you torque the head down... ignore toyotas 58ft lbs... torque it to 75ft lbs and you shouldn't blow it again
just make sure your block surface is very very clean and send your head off to the reconditioner to get checked for flatness etc
if it all checks out flat an all start slappin it together

i've posted on this forum somewhere  bout the na/t conversion which is fairly popular or you can just swap in the 7mgte 3.0T motor

if ya wanna know any more feel free to ask

well for arp's you can get them off ebay for bout $80
and head gaskets there are quite a few... hks, cometic, greddy... prices vary...
a few supra websites you can have a look at....

www.suprasport.com
www.mvpmotorsports.com
www.horsepowerfreaks.com

ring your local reconditioners and get quotes for checking the flatness of your head and skim and checking your block.. just make sure they're not backyard reconditioners hehe
