Idle Problem
Before you start reading this just know I used tsrm and checked voltage on the iscv and tps, checked all vaccuum lines and what not. So my car will turn on but will Ide really high, like 2000rpm. Tach doesnt work since I swapped the turbo gauge cluster in. My Supra is a 88 body with 87 turbo swapped into it. There is one pipe that, im assuming a vaccuum line goes to but tere isnt anything. It is under the Intake Plenum, fairly big pipe with a lip. I plugged it for now until I know what line is suppose so go there.
Here is a link of a video I took of my car start up til turned off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U2-YacDtb0 |
So I just remembered there was a screw for the throttle body, turned the car on adjusted it and it runs fine now, but whenever I rev it up it stays at a high rpm until I have to pull the it so it will idle lower. The Tach doesnt work, so Im unsure what my rpms are but I have an SAFC-1 and will install that later tonight. Just need to fix the oil leak which is in the spark plug galley and flows behind the block onto the transmission. replace those bolts and Im good to go... hopefully.

If it's hanging around 2KRPM then inspect the dashpot and the short hose and filter at the end of the hose.
If you swapped the GTE over with the GTE ECU that GTE tach should work fine.... the only tach which wouldn't work would be a GE tach. I've posted a picture which shows how to convert a GE tach to a GTE tach and vice versa. |
I will check that, what would you prefer to clean the dashpot?
is there a choke on the engine? my step-dad was asking me about it since it stays at a high idle at start up, would say 1000-1200 rpm. |
