I'm assuming it's a N/A without LSD. Check for even tire wear, air pressure on all four tires and alignment.

Hi Everyone!
Handling problems!( fishtailing and jumping to the right on straight dry road at slow speed/low power ) -- I put my car on ramps and looked underneath -no problems there although the right rear wheel was dragging with the handbrake off , the right rear damper is soft ( extra bounce at release)- ,and (ARRRGH! )I also found that the tyres are all different -whoops! You should use 245/50's on all four, it'll give you better grip. I got kumhos, but hankook has good tires, so does dunlop or toyo, just depends on your price range.
Make sure you replace your bushings also, the rubber goes bad and it makes the car handle very poorly, so get new ones or some poly's. Last edited by supraheelfan; 04-19-2011 at 06:35 AM. |

hankook: korean for shi**y tire! kumhos arent bad, bridgestone hp550s arent bad, they have a 50k mile warranty, but they are heavy as shiz. michelins always kick ass, so do goodyear triple treads.

Hankook tires are not bad, I had some and they gripped great and lasted a while, especially considering how hard I drove with them. "To drift is to live."

Tires do have a big impact on handling but there are also other factors like old bushing and struts. My friend installed the bushings from driftmotion which are relatively cheap but a pain to install that made a nice improvement over 20+ years old ones. http://store.driftmotion.com/static/i-83126g.php http://store.driftmotion.com/static/i-83127g.php Last edited by 907mge; 04-19-2011 at 10:00 PM. |

handling problem
Hi!
Thanks everyone! I had changed all of the wishbone struts -rubbers ( ali)front and rear-both sides and both of the front lower wishbones several years earlier due to wandering and all that improved the handling greatly along with a replacement steering rack and new track arms .It's only VERY recently that the car has ever had this problem of rear -end wander and jumping to the right and this is what I am researching with everyones help. Having odd tyres all round is a start and I will be changing them very soon .The car came with Continental tyres all round originally but they have been slowly changed due to tyre wear. It's parked up at the moment -just too weird/wrong on the road to drive anywhere. |

handling problem - solved!
Hi!
My MA70 was having handling problems- fishtailing and jumping to the right on straight dry roads at low speed/power. I have investigated and found that the fishtailing was due to a duff right rear damper ( 1 inch free play -soft -useless!) ,both rear dampers have now been changed, nice cornering feel now,no more "rear wheel steering feeling ". The axle jumping was due to a very nearly seized right rear calliper, after applying the brakes ( its an automatic ) the brake would bind and suddenly release causing the wheel to suddenly speed-up. both calipers were removed, thoroughly cleaned and reassembled with a new seal service kit each.now rolls freely after releasing the handbrake. I test drove the car today - what a difference! a real pleasure to drive now!,so my fuel consumption should also improve too. Last edited by interested!; 05-12-2011 at 11:28 AM. |
