I'm not sure how easily and cheaply you can find a 1jz ecu, it's generally easier to spend the extra and get a clip from Japan, that way you have most of the stuff that you need. As far as the tranny is concerned, the 7M turbo tranny is the same as the 1JZ tranny, except you will need the 1JZ Bellhousing to mate it to the engine.

ahh ur lucky i just finished this swap like 3 weeks ago....all i gotta say is its a great motor, as for the ecu, i got a front clip so i had the ecu, the harness and tranny come with motor, therefore i dint really have to worry about anything else...i say get teh clip because it will save you a lot of trouble, like finding just the ecu for the 1jz motor, as for prices, clips vary, i got mine for a pretty good deal $1955, which included the motor that had 55k on it...not too bad

Yea, i got an 87 7m-ge. I found the twin turbo 1jz in a shop by me in miami for 1000. It doesnt come with the ecu or harnesses. I was talking to a friend of mine and said all i have to do to make the transmission compatible was change the bell housing which depending on rarity would be fairly cheap for a used one. But i still need the ecu and wire harnesses. The 1j has approx. 55k on it with both turbos so its a good deal as far as i can tell. But if any of you know where i can get the harness, ecu and bell housing it would be awesome.
