its alive!!!!!!
yes, its a very good example of that 87hilux, i definately learned the importance of that on this build, but thank you very much to conga!!!! i did timed the CPS and it fired right up! idk if something got messed up a little tho, will not rev above 2000 RPM and heats up very very fast, i do have a few vacuum leaks tho that im still figuring out, but am getting the part to fix the vacuum leaks ASAP. any ideas of why it won't rev above 2000? also when i put in gear and let off clutch it has almost no power, wont climb rpm's at all, does some kind of backfire??? thinking maybe timing is too far advanced or something??? haven't had a chance to put a light on it yet, will do tomorrow. but she purrs like a kitten when idling, lol.

sounds like its advanced a decent amount. same thing happened on my pickup before swapping motors. idled awesome, but had no power and didnt want to rev at all. figured out my chain was 2 teeth off, so i had to mod the dizzy to get enough adjustment, but after that it worked great.
so yea, timing id say!

car won't start
Hi!
Had the very same problem after overhauling my cylinder head!-would not rev beyond 2000 rpm !-- I overcame it by marking the direction of rotation ( DOR) of the rotor arm on the rocker cover and moving the distributer ( advance-earlier spark -- AGAINST the DOR )and RETARD-- later spark -WITH the DOR ) and move the distributer until the revs peaked and then locked it --it may be too far retarded and quickly overheats. I then checked the timing marks and nothing seems to line up BUT the car revs nicely, and takes a long time to open the thermostat now -- how weird is that?. |

Hi!
Your ( 3 ) coil pack 1&6 2&5 3&4 -this is correct! You have 6 cylinders , 1&6 move up together to TDC (TOP DEAD CENTRE ) ,then 120 degrees later 2&5 reach TDC and 120 degrees later 3&4 reach TDC , this means the coils should double spark --one on firing stroke on No 1 and one on No 6 exhaust stroke, etc,, if :firing order 1-5-3-6-2-4, then :each coil sparks at : .1&6, 5&2 , 3&4,/ 6&1 , 2&5 , 4&3./ 1&6 -etc - hope this helps. |

its alive!
ok, its alive and well now...for the most part. it idles amazing!!! purrs like a kitten, but refuses to rev above 3000 rpm, it kicks itself down to about 2700 when it hits it, like the rev limiter is hitting. i read about this happening to another guy but there was no answer, any ideas? possbily dirty MAF sensor?? i hope its not in the ECU, i really can't afford to plug a computer into that thing

revs out, not boosting
thanks for the help so far guys, i got the engine to rev out all the way finally. my wiring harness is all kinds of messed up and a wire had been cut on the MAF sensor and wasn't touching. got that all fixed and re-pinned. now the car isn't boosting. ive gone through and checked all my hoses, no holes in them or anything. checked the WGA, it begins to open at around 6.5 psi and holds vacuum and closes properly. could it possibly be the boost sensor? if its the one i think it is, its supposed to be bolted to the back bottom of the intake plenums, correct? could it not being bolted down cause it to not ground out and therefore not get a signal? or could it be vacuum lines are wrong? boost gauge isn't working either, not showing vacuum or boost, holding steady at 0.
I also need a BVSV i believe, its supposed to be attached to the thermostat housing correct? my manual isn't giving me the greatest pictures of some of this stuff sadly. its almost there, sadly after its done its going in storage while im deployed then when i get back its getting a whole lot of new parts for it, lol. im stuck between keeping it white cuz of the engine compartment, door seals, trunk lining or going like midnight blue or a metallic black, any suggestions? any and all help is always appreciated!!!! anyone around tacoma that has a 7mgte that would let me take a look at it and compare some of it to mine would be amazing!
