mk4 tt in a mk3?
I'm sure this is a newbie question but I'm a newbie. Has anyone ever put the mkiv twin turbo in a mk iii? Curious...

none that i know of...the transmission is different from an mk3...so therefore there will be some modification needed, and the 2jz is a little heavier than the 7m so the motor mounts wont be the same...but i dont know anyone thats put a 2jz into an mk3

seems like the folks at supramania think its possible if i have the motor names correct 1jzgte is twin turbo mk3 engine 2jzgte is twin turbo mk4 engine??? can i ask your reasons for wanting to do this? i've thought about it but it seems like a lot more work and money than using a 1jzgte which is a pretty awesome motor yes there are more parts available for the 2jz, yes the 2jz is more powerful but are you ever really gonna spend more money after the (from my estimates) 3000 or so for the new engine, then you need a new tranny and ecu and lord knows what else plus labor? seems to me the logical way to go would be to upgrade the 7m i dunno though, if im wrong just lmk |

I'm completely new to the Supra as far as anything mechanically. My actual idea was can you use the turbo (twin) from a mkiv on a mkiii engine. I am going to be buying a 88 NA and have plans to turbo it but I am looking at my options that are available to me. I am open to any suggestions. I am looking at a stock turbo also but not sure if that is what I want...

i've been looking around recently but before this i had no knowledge either
it seems to me that the practical swap would be the 1jz as opposed to the 2jz just because the amount of work required and price of engine seems to me though a lot of folks are happy with their 7mgte's though so you might want to consider picking up a turbo instead of n/a to save yourself some money in the longterm |

yea i was pretty happy with my 7m until i got rid of it and put in a 1jzgte, i like this motor better i dont know why....it just sounds nice, and putting a 2j into an mk3 is a lot of work and trouble, not many people or any at all have gone down this road...do some research see if its possible...i know no mk3 with a 2j motor in it

i guess you could do it with custom manifold made
the 2j twin setup will not bolt onto any other supra engine other than the 2j

O.k. then... I am asking another newbie question. The 88 I'm getting is NA. What is the engine # for that? What parts are needed to turbo it? I'm guessing the engine is the same as the turbo with the exception of the fact that there is not turbo, the exhaust manifold and exhaust period. Am I right?
