86 1/2 na turbo swap advice
Hello evryone.
I was curious how hard would it be to properly turbo my na supra, and also, what parts do I need and around how much will all the parts cost. And most of all, is it even worth it. I bought an 86.5 supra and i want to make it a little faster. I already have a turbo engine bottomend with pistons, ahduhh, and a turbo exhaust manifold. Obviously, im gna need a turbo. Does anybody have one for sale? Im also planning to jus rewire the stock wirring harness to work with the turbo ecu. Has anybody done that, and is it difficult? I just need the cam sensor, coil, and ecu right. Also, how well will the turbo run with the stock na fuel mangement, just incase i decide to leave the ignition stock and ecu stock. I do have jacobs Ice pack for 6cylinder engine. What do you guys think. Also, how much is an after market fuel management? Any Advice Is Appriciated. Last edited by amcutem; 04-30-2011 at 12:47 AM. |

also the kit is a good idea becuz it comes with all 2.5 - 3.5 piping, bov, and the upgraded IC.. which is definately good for that. other reasons why you should buy a turbo kit im sure...

The best way would to swap to the gte eletronics. harness, ecu and sensors
The turbo'd supra injectors r 440s And would be best to get them to or bigger if your going to run higher boost. |

if you really want your money to go farther, instead of buying 20+ year old GTE stuff, you could get an aftermarket ems, like megasquirt, and run it n/a while you aquire turbo parts. with MS you can ditch the crappy VAFM and run a map/maf system. then when you get your turbo, you just bolt it all on and re-tune. the only thing you need is a laptop to tune with.
you will prolly want 440cc or larger injectors, especially if you want to up the boost. on a stock motor i wouldnt go much more than 15psi. you can spend about 1200 bux and get the whole EMS, injectors and most of the turbo kit for that, depending on the turbo you go with (a good turbo kit with everything can run up to 6k) just my two cents. getting gte electronics can work just dandy if they are cheap enough and in working condition. just have to do some research and weigh prices back and forth.
