No power and Starter won't turn
Okay when I jump my car with another battery I let my battery charge but as soon as I unhook the other battery everything goes completely dead does not even try, I was not having any problems with my battery prior to this so I really don't think it's a dead cell.
Another problem when I do jump it the starter won't even attempt to turn, I have had starters go out on me and they give you warnings, it struggles and you pretty much know when it's dieing.....I just find these couple things odd wanted to see if anyone had any similar problems. I have checked the fuses all were good, I checked for a bad ground....My terminals look fine. I have ran over all the basics most people over look. I'm just kinda puzzled by it because before this it ran strong and I have never had a problem with it. |
Have you checked the actual battery voltage?
|
Not yet I plan to tomorrow to see where it's at....Is there any way to check the starter?
|
You could pull the starter off and bench test it, but it's not very likely that it's the starter. It seems the problem is probably in one of your battery cables. When you jump start it, what happens if you move the negative jumper cable to a chassis or engine ground (like the alternator bracket)?
Probably a dumb question, but are your terminals tightened down on the battery? |
Yea my cables had a dirty connection lost all power but it world start fine when jumped. So I replace the positive connector and cleaned the battery terminals. Works fine now
|
No as I stated in my first post I checked the terminals they were fine......Found out my battery is only putting out 3 volts it's dead.....It's weird because it's only a year old
|
well then something is draining your battery. Unless of course you haven't started it in awhile.. but even then you should be able to jump it and it hold a charge.
