That shouldn't be necessary, I would just make sure they are connected properly and in good shape. I think those are the only two for the ecu. Look at the diagram just to be sure. It might not be your problem but the ecu MUST be grounded properly and it never hurts to be 100% sure the grounds are good to eliminate them as suspect.
Have you cleared the codes and tried running it again to see if the same ones come back? The computer can sometimes "remember" if you unplug something while it's running. Having to feather the gas to rev the engine is a symptom of a kvafm issues. Can you get the screen on the safc to show the kvafm signal? Check if afm is doing anything. (I can watch the afm signal change with the airflow increase as I rev the engine with the safc2)

does the ecu itself have to be mounted so it can pull a ground from the mounts to function properly??

As far as I know the ecm does NOT use case ground. However, it should be mounted to prevent damage to it and the wiring. I know a couple of supras around here driving around with it just hanging under the dash, I laugh every time I see them.
If the ecu grounds are good, move on to the timing. Make sure the crank pulley's timing mark hasn't shifted and check timing again. You may have to rotate the cam sensor to get it right. Procedures are in the tsrm.
You also should use a larger fuel pump and an adjustable fuel press regulator with those injectors. Not saying there's anything wrong with yours but they should have come before the 550cc injectors. Good luck!
