Default timing question (weed todd did)

Q: my sticker under the hood was unreadable and i had been running my timing about 5 degrees below (retarted) stock but when i set it to 10 degrees, i hear it knock or ping just once or twice under max load? is this the ecu just searching for the max advance and automatically retarding it untill there is no more pinging?

my dodge friend says its normal but i dont like it.. what do you ppl say?

i am sofa king weed todd did hahhahahha

well... timing is meant to be 10BTDC with the diagnostic pins connected

i can't really say much on your octane as we have different octanes here... so for those that use your type of fuel....

what octane are you running in it

and for those that own usdm supras... what octane should he be using hehe

no, no dyno here that i know of,???

it only does it when i set it to 10 degrees, at 5 degrees it does not make the ping. i think its ok ,it should just be the ecu scrambnling to find a timming point that wont ping? sound right? thats what i was told by a mopar nut but wanted to check here. i have all four bars on my air fuel mixture in the green , (rich) so i think its not going to gernade. well see i like the power of 10 degrees but i hate that ping does yours do it?
just once or twice? then finds a good spot.? when you come on to her lol

hmmm maybe turn your boost down to 12psi and see if it does it

i would think that you are maybe detonating and then the ecu is retarding timing

turn down the boost and have a look then

also those funky lightshow gauges... that's pretty much all they are... they work like this

..... i think i'm rich... ah now i'm lean... i think i'm in the middle now... oooh rich again

it's not accurate... just a guestimate

i threw mine out

ok i will try turning boost down. yeah ive been thinking about installing an exhaust gas temp guage to help judge lean or rich temps? i know the air fuel is sort of accurate because when i blew the vac line off the waistgate i ran up to atleast 20 psi before i realized something was wrong and i was definately not in the green on the air/fuel gauge it was almost in the red orange. so for now ill keep it installed.
