NA to Turbo?
I may have to settle for buying a very sweet non-turbo 87 Supra.
I make the assumption that dropping a turbo onto the car isn't hard, but is there anything.. odd I need to know? I searched the forums, but am suddenly very low on time.. any quick pointers? Or links? Thanks. PS: ALso, stock, does an NA model have a forged crankshaft? Last edited by WiseAssJester; 09-26-2005 at 03:58 AM. |

I ment low on time as of that post, I have all the time in the world to build it.
I can't find a turbo model close enough, and definately not for the price. And definately not in this condition. Basically I just need to make sure it comes with a forged crank, or where to buy a crank, and what compression ratio it is. Either way, thats for giggles as I'm going to drop a large turbo on it for my end game application. |

The cranks are forged stock. A very nice feature. Heavy though. Mill the head a lot or put some nice pop up pistons and cams. Get the head ported, especially the exhaust side. Put a set of tripple side draft carbs on it and header and big exhaust and I think it would be a very fast cruiser.
That is what I wan to do to mine anyway...........sigh. Russ |

I'm actually gonna dish the pistons. 8:1 compression.. maybe 7.8. Either way, gonna get a massive turbo.
Are turbo and NA SUpras from 87 the same with regards to the heads? Or are there minor changes? Or is the NA still only 8.4 to one compression? |

Same heads different pistons. Apparently the horsepower is close with the N/A and the turbo but the torque is the big difference.
