Need automatic transmission dipstick for 1989 Supra
Hi,
Someone took my auto transmission dipstick while my car was being serviced. Does anyone know where I can find a used dipstick for a 1989 Supra Turbo with an OEM auto transmission? The mechanic could not find one and I could not find one on the web or at my local junk yard. Does anyone know the actual length of the dipstick? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Mark |
if the mechanic shop misplaced it then its not really your problem. tell them to OEM factory order it from a dealership or you do it then pass them the bill.. Idiots. Thats why I don't take my car TO ANYWHERE.. Unless I know them personally. Even when I went to NTB. they put my tires back on and over torqued my studs.. when I changed my brakes 5 months later they were so seized on there, by the time I was ready to put my tire back on I screwed a stud off.. How does that happen? I'm telling you they just let anyone work on other peoples cars now days.

Even the best techs slip up sometimes so give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to find your dipstick or pay for a replacement or make good someway. Good shops and honest people are still out there but it seems that so many shops around here hire inexperienced workers at minimum wage and then charge you professional labor rates then don't make good when the car comes back for the same problem or a problem caused by their "repair". My supra is manual, I tried to find an "extra" trans dipstick i thought I had laying around to get the measurement but cant find it. I know a couple people with the automatic so if nobody posts it by tonight I will measure it and post it. |
Well of course they denied losing or misplacing it since they weren't working on the transmission but they were trying to help me find a replacement to no avail. They told me that they checked with Toyota and they don't sell the part.

thats just doing a google search w/ the part number and pulling up the first page.. I still scream negligence and make them foot the bill or your gonna give them a horrible review to everyone you know.. even take an add out in the paper. they are lying to you. They didn't check shit. Coming up with that part number took maybe 3 minutes. coming up with a store to buy it from took even less time. I wouldn't go back to that place again m8. |
Thanks for the part #. Looks like it is based on the production date of the car. When I searched by my VIN the part # I need is 35103-30270. The Toyota Parts Zone site has a few different parts beginning with 35103 but this one is not in stock. I found another site searching by this part # at VillageToyotaParts.com that looks to have it in stock although they charge more.
The repair shop did a good job repairing my Supra so besides the missing dipstick I was pleased with their work. Thanks again! |
