Default Speaker Questions

I was taking off my door panel and i noticed the speaker was in a black plastic box which i guess is known as an acoustic box. I'm getting new speakers for my car. Do i still need to use that box or can i just mount the speaker right to the metal the box was screwed to? just wondering if that box would make a difference is all or if i should just cut the box to fit the speaker size. Also i heard i might have 6 speakers????

I think 89 is when they introduced the 6 speaker system. You should keep the plastic box if possible, it will improve the sound quality and make it easier to hear the speakers over installing them in the empty space

Keep the plastic enclosures, they're necessary to get any "decent" sound from a 4" speaker.

Why not just install a higher quality speaker than stock for the high range and use a sub and amp for mid and low range . I know at least in the back the speakers are prone to become torn.

i did plan on putting something like 6x9 in the front without the box. but im not sure yet. the back is just crappy because you dont have a lot of room to work with where the speakers go. and im not building separate boxes for them either cause that would make it look shitty i think. What if i go with high quality speakers that actually fit the front and back? i know the back needs a little bit of modification either way but if the speakers were good enough i would think they would sound good
