Default Any tips on replacing Rack & Pinion on 86 1/2 Supra

My rack and pinion is leaking power steering fluid and I have to replace it. Any tip would be really appreciated.

It's pretty straightforward as far as removing and replacing it. I would suggest a thorough degrease first to make it easier. Make sure to flush the reservoir and cooler before filling it up and replace the hoses and bushings now while you are in there. After filling the system back up, with the front wheels off the ground, you will need to bleed the air out by turning the steering wheel all the way in each direction a few times.

Default Replacing Rack and Pinion

It's a real tight fit, and before you remove the old rack and pinion you need to either take a picture with you camera, or a very good mental picture. After getting the new rack and pinion bolted in, I had to remove it because the lines weren't on the correct side of it. Also, take a look at the bracket, for the stablizer bar, on the new rack and pinion to make sure it matches where it is on the old one. If it's not in the right location, it can be turned to the proper location with a pipe wrench. It's best to attach the lines first, before sliding the rack and pinion in place. The last thing to bolt up is the steering.
