Default Cam Position Sensor failure

Curious if anyone has had a cps break down instantly. where as one day it worked perfectly and the following day your car wouldn't start and it turned out being your cam position sensor was shot.

Thanks

I've seen the CPS wiring fail more often than the CPS itself. Having to re-do the wiring for it isn't an uncommon repair as it gets pretty crispy over the years from being that close to the turbo and exhaust manifold.

I'd do a close check of the wiring and plug before I wrote off the CPS.

.
I will second mirage83 opinion, wiring on a 20+ year old wire harness is the likely issue.

Well what do you know , the same thing just happened to me recently. Instead of buying new cps just redo the wiring, huh.
