Turbo A 7MGTE

I'm new to the Supra and bought one a NA for $100 (good deal huh). Ofcourse it doesnt run but I've been planning on putting GTE in her but thats not the question. I've been reading up alot of the Supra in other forums and the Turbo A 7MGTE with Turbo A ECU caught my eye. I thought there was only the 7MGTE. Maybe Supragirl can clear this up for me.

the turbo A is more than likely the group A used for racing, not really released to the general public, but more than likely some kicking around somewhere from private ones. expensive as hell though

the normal 7mgte = air flow meter and 232bhp

turbo a = speed density/map sensor and 267bhp from memory, slightly larger turbo and a few mods to the ecu

turboa7mgte on supramania will be putting his up for sale soon.... dunno how much he wants tho

turbo a is pretty rare...i dont know many people that own one, though i wouldnt mind having one myself

Sounds like a pretty cool engine. Wish there were more of them out. I would expect that the turbo is a direct bolt on to a regular 7MGTE and would be a good turbo to upgrade compared to the CT26 upgrade.

a friend of mine has an 87 7M-GTE. since it seems to be rare, i doubt he has one, but how would you be able to tell if it was the 'turbo a' model? different engine code/VIN number?

they never came to the states...to my understanding..so if its a usdm 87 supra..then 99.9% chance its not a turbo a...they released a small amount of them in japan...not sure if anywhere else..the engine code should be teh same since its the same motor...but im not sure..i know suprra_girl knows more about this topic then i do

for ct26 upgrades i would just get a turbo shop to upgrade it... there's quite a few options ;)

easy to tell a turbo a

look for the airflow meter in the intake pipe... if it ain't there then it's a turbo a... also look for the map sensor on the firewall
if someone has a turbo a motor but put their harness on it you may find the throttle body is larger than stock...
also i believe there would be an air intake temp located in the intake manifold
