1990 Supra ; Need advice
 

Hi everybody, im just wondering what i should do with my 1990 supra ; it has the white package and it has the 7m-gte..i just inherited it from my grandfather. I want to convert it to M/t but the thing about that is the car only has 14,xxx miles...Any advice please? thank you

My personal opinion? Clean it up, park it in the garage, insure it for what you think it's worth (different from regular auto insurance), take it out on Sunday for a nice, gentle drive around town to show it off every now and then.

There are a ton of Supra's out there. There aren't a ton of Supra's with 14.XXX miles on them. You can buy a Supra in decent condition fairly inexpensively. I would go that route, if I were you.

IMHO Park it! Drive it occasionally to keep it in condition. Please do not mod it!

Wish my pop-pop gave me a supra with almost no miles on it. Keep it a show car.

Was it even driven once a year? With that low miles it seem it could of sat for years.

Yeah it would be driven at least once every 2 weeks in the summer. I live in new York so pretty much about 6 months out of the year it'd be driven basically just to the doctors or a family members house. Winter it's always been ran and a trickle charger he has on it. I'm only 17 so I'm pretty happy I got it

Take good care of it, drive it only on weekends or special ocassions, and make sure it's parked somewhere safe when you're not in it. But PLEASE don't molest that car in any way. As others have already noted, MkIII's with that few miles on them are extremely rare and deserve to be babied.

If you want a 5-speed, by all means, hunt around for a decent beater or DD to have fun in. But speaking for myself that '90 is far too sweet to monkey with.

Agreed. Please do not be another kid who gets an mk3 to be a "tuner". Just keep it stock and it will help it keep its value. Also from what I have heard if you really start driving a car that is that old and with so few miles you can expect leaks from dried seals and hoses.

It is funny though that although it is a nice mk3 that you would probably find a dealer asking 8 to 9k for it would be more like 50k if it was only 3 or 4 years newer.

Haha I know never would I rice a mk3. I'll leave that to the civics I think I'm just going to keep it bone dry and I know I asked my grandfather why he couldn't of waited a couple years and boughten a mk4 ! Jaha thankyou everyone for your feedback

if the car was maintained and driven at the intervals he stated, seals usually arent a huge problem. if the car is left sitting for years at a time, then it becomes an issue.

sounds like his g-pa had a handle on things and took care of his car. id do general upkeep and keep that mint stock. its not as desirable as the mk4, but in 10 years if its only got twice the miles on it or a lil more, it will be worth some dough. not that id ever say to sell it.

personally id drive the piss out of it. thats what cars are meant to do, especially a fun sports car like a supra. if collecting cars and having ppl ooh and aah over it at the local park n show is what gets you going, great! thats what u should do. but if you get a car for the exhiliration and thrill of getting behind the wheel and flogging it, then u should definitely drive that thing like it was meant to be driven: hard and flat out.:naughty:

just maintain it and im sure no matter what you do, it will give you years of enjoyment. congrats on the inheritance! good luck and enjoy it! :bigthumb:
