durafix aluminum welding rod
hey, so im looking for a way to make the outlet manifold for the S/C, and i saw on the suby forum that he just brazed his manifold up.
wasnt sure if he used standard aluminum brazing rod or not, so i started searching, and found this stuff. apparently its pretty strong and i would think the plenty strong enough for the outlet piece, especially since i wont be going over 15lbs of boost ever probably. i saw this product used to repair an air line on a compressor, so im pretty sure itll hold up to pressure. my question is, does anyone have any personal experience with it? i plan on gettin some anyway just to try it, and ive already got a ton of aluminum brazing rod. just looking for a slighty stronger setup than that, cuz i can break a double sided braze with my hands (albeit, a little extra force) my only other option is upgrade welders so i can get a spool gun, and thats pretty spendy. any opinions or comments? theres also a shit ton of vids on youtube for it. pretty amazing stuff! |
I have always wanted to try those too. I specifically wanted to see how well it can weld inter cooler piping. They're pretty cheap. If you get a box, let us know if they're as awesome as the videos make them seem.

thats the plan. ive got alot of other random non-car fixes to try it on. but as long as its not too porous then it should do IC piping great. thats what im going to try it with after i do the outlet manifold and other stuff.
ive been researching it and the personal testimonials ive seen appear to be pretty amazing. it doesnt have a very good charpy test rating compared to a weld, but the tensile strength is nuts. ill post back with some results, im gonna order some here soon or see if my local oxarc carries it. |
