heat temp gauge flipped?
I couldn't find a post similar to what mine is doing soo, i havent started my engine at all since i rebuilt it i know there might be an electrical mix up somewhere..when i turn my key on and the gauges fall into place my heat temp gauge goes all the way past the H then settles down at what i guess would be about 170-180 degrees. any suggestions on what might cause this??

faulty sensor or gauge id say. id replace the sensor, since its cheap as hell. see if it fixes it, if not, bad gauge. check the wiring too.

Have you bled the system of air at the thermostat? .My gauge showed overheating on a cold engine immediately after I had put some new anti-freeze in and topped the radiator up . this was due to an air lock , so the gauge was not reading ANY water at that point and read hot. |
It really shouldn't spike to full hot unless the car is on fire or there's a short to ground in the signal wire.... Or it's connected to the wrong sensor or the sensor is shot... Test the sensor as per the TSRM.
