New to the Forums and Supras..CHUMP CAR RACER!
Hello all, my name is Nathan, my team and I just purchased a 1987 Toyota Supra, 5 speed. Non Turbo. We are Chump Car racers and have no experience with the Supra. I am looking for ideas on how to make our car better, such as brakes, rotors, wheels and to learn about the major issues the 7MG engine has that need to be addressed. Any leads for suppliers or brands of parts would be greatly appreciated. We run 14-24 hour races so durability is a must. Thanks in advance and I look forward to participating in the forum and posting our progress and pictures of the car as we go along.

u should really talk to carljohansen on here. he races lemons race, and prolly has tons of advice to give.
as for other stuff. the HG are the biggest things about these engines. the only other problems they have that i can really recall are low oil pressure, which isnt exactly low (it is a High volume, Low Pressure system). both problems can be searched on here with lots of results.

Head gasket, better radiator and a thorough cleaning of the cooling system, and add an oil cooling system (the GE didn't come with one). Suspension and conversion to a Mustang manual power steering rack (weight reduction and reduced power consumption) are the probably next most popular mods for track GE's (GTE's just throw more power at it to make up for the losses from PS ).
