Rod Knock Block Worth Anything?
I took apart a 7mgte that my friend was going to take for scrap since he is not interested in 7m anymore since he put in the 2jz. But my question is about the worth of the block. It has rod knock, so is it worth selling or just take it for scrap?

You really won't know until you tear it apart.

I was trying to avoid tearing it apart. But in general is cheaper to go with a non-rod knock motor than deal with the machine shop costs of fixing rod knock?
|
better idea, sell it to someone and not say it has rod knock, its one of those "buyers beware" things

My 7m had a rod knock then I got it rebuild and the builder said my block was good and my crank only need to be polished.

If you want to sell things it is best not to get a bad reputation. Anywho you will reap what you sew. :rolleyes2 |
I guess it will go on craigslist and I'll keep dropping the price til it sells. The whole motor would have only fetched 15 for scrap since it would be mixed metal. But I would hate to see it go for scrap since it could run again. It is funny though to see the 7m bottom end sit next to a 2zz bottom end in the garage. The 2zz looks like a toy compared to the 7m.
