slugish before op-temp
i have recently rebuild my 7mge, i have noticed it takes it about 15-20 minutes to reach op-temp. The engine runs really slugish when i drive it under op temp almost like ive lost 40% power its fine if its at op temp though. Also if it hasnt reached op temp and i turn the heat on it cools the engine down pretty quick i figured that was normal because its an older car. Im using Valvoline max life 10-W30 oil in it. does anyone know what could cause this. Is it just the engine hasnt broke in well enough yet?

Test the AFM, ECU temp sensor, make sure the cold start injector isn't leaking and verify that both mechanical and ignition timing are set correctly.

where is the ecu temp sensor located?
|
There's a nice graphic in a post on the temp sensor located in the FAQ section.

first time ive heard of an over efficient cooling system with these cars. wondering if the thermostat is stuck open, at least as part of the problem.
sounds alot like a timing issue though. follow the aforementioned advice. |
okay so i apologize i probably should have said something about oil leaking only on exhaust side. Turns out i didnt tighten up the 3 plugs in the block. Tightened them down and its A LOT better motor even sounds more healthy. hope this can help someone in the future.
