Oil Pump NA 88

Ok guys,
whats the deal on the oil pump? we are building up a spare engine for our lemons car, using a cresida core, leaving it pretty much stock except for ARP connecting rod bolts and head studs.
Gotta change the oil pan, we have that covered, but need to find an oil pump. does the turbo motor use the same pump? is there aftermarket options? highflow?
any info you have is helpfull,
thanks in advance and happy new year!

The turbo oil pump is a higher flow with different internal gearing. Aisin (non-Toyota branded) are generally a good deal less expensive you'll find at the dealer whether online or local.

Sorry Cre, you seem to be the go to guy. Without you this forum would really struggle, thanks for your continued efforts!

I need a bit of clarification on this. So the turbo oil pump has higher flow and works fine with the 7MGE - correct?

So were you saying Aisin makes the turbo pump, or were providing a second option ie you could get the aisin version of the oil pump either turbo or NA, from a dealer or online - and it would be cheaper that the toyota version?

The pump you buy from Toyota is Aisin.... It's even cast into the body of the pump. A lot of Toyota's components come from them. It just happens that the one you get from the dealer also has "Toyota" cast into it. BUT you can also buy the Aisin pump without the "Toyota" label on it from third parties; It's the same pump just not paying that extra money for the name. ;)

The GTE pump will fit the GE, the housings are the same and so are the pickups, just the internals vary. If building with slack clearances the GTE is definitely the way to go, the same if you've added more resistance to the system (ie: an oil cooler or remote filter mount).
