How much?
I'm thinking about getting my car painted. I'm curious to see how much your cars were. I just want to paint my car a normal gloss black. It needs very little body work. As in, i need to bondo my door a little so its smooth, kind of body work. I just want to kno a ballpark range for a paint job.

depends on where u get it painted..u'll save a lot of money if you buy a spray gun and do it yourself, or you can get a shop to do it...maaco will probably be about $1000 but then again its a $1000 paint job...u could add stuff like scratch resistant or wutever...dont remember...or u can go to a custom shop and theyll do it...but itll be more even though its the same color, but not expensive since you are using a basic color like gloss black... also it will cost a little more if you want teh whole chassis painted like inside the engine bay...because they will have to strip the car and put it back together when they are done...i havent gotten my car painted yet but my friends and i will probably repaint it black since i have a spray gun we can use, i just wanna get everything else done at the moment

That thought also crossed my mind. So if you could, if you paint it yourself, can you tell me how hard it was and a good technique that would help the paint get sprayed on evenly. Thanx

well i have painted a car before...haha thats why i have the spray gun...we did my friends 240sx (with an sr20det motor), but we dint do gloss..we did flat black..which is really easy...since there it is not a gloss black painting it evenly wasnt really much of a problem...all you had to do was make sure there were teh same amount of coats for each part..its not hard at all..it just takes a while...i say about a whole day...since im not a pro, but first step is u scrape all the original paint off, take it off...bondo and fix dents or cracks or anything u need...just fill it in and make it blend in with the body so when you repaint it...it doesnt look like you actually fixed it, i havent looked at how to do gloss paint yet...i gotta do some research on it...but i know its a lot more sanding to get teh gloss coat real smooth...i think its 4 coats gloss...3 coats of the color...i might be wrong, as for technique... keep the same movement through teh whole job...if you go side to side...go side to side for the whole car...but keep it in grain meaning keep it in the same direction...me and my friends found it a lot easier to take off teh hood, fenders, doors, trunk...and any other body parts taht could be removed so its easier to paint...otherwise tape off anything you dont want painted like lights or trimming, but once i get to the painting process ill let you know
