Cylinder head casting number
Where is the cylinder head casting number located at on the head? Are the numbers the same on the 7mgte and 7mge heads because they r the same heads just different intake cams.

There are over a dozen revisions of the 7M head and they're nothing to do with the particular model or which cams it came with. The head (as well as the block) were continuously upgraded through the 7M's lifetime... Improvements may have been subtle changes for easier production or minor tweaks for easier emissions compliance; Changes for more power are possible but unlikely or completely insignificant.
The only reason I see to change from one head to a later number is age... the later number is the newer and as such less likely to have softened. There are a few locations for revision numbers, I can't remember which is which. There's a mold identifier and a casting revision number. One you'll find on the intake side above the ports and the other is behind the upper, rear timing belt cover..... If I remember correctly. Here's a 'tiny' bit more info: http://www.supramania.com/forums/sho...casting+number Just a couple pictures and speculation.

Ok thank. So I burnt a valve in #6 so I found a cylinder head company that has a 7mge head rebuilt with all new parts and cams. So instead of me rebuilding mine just going to get that. But they said they need a casting number to make sure its the right one. But any 7m head will work right?

Yes. As a matter of fact, there was only one part number from Toyota: 11101-42030
Cams do differ though.

i have two different heads, an 11 and a 14. the numbers are on the front or rear (cant remember exactly) right below the cam journals on the exterior of the cylinder head. both of my heads use have the short divider in them.
i have seen a few other heads and to my knowledge, there has been no rhyme or reason linking the casting #'s to different head types. nor have i seen much difference in performance, numbers wise in any of my research. far as i know, any 7m head will work, and shouldnt pose a problem.
