Throttle Position Sensor
okay i cleared by code 11 and now i have code 51 which is the TPS. i jumped IDL and E2 in the connector and code 51 went away so im guessing replacing the sensor will do. should i just buy a new sensor (looks like its the original sensor, car has over 190xxx miles). or adjust the old one?

The TPS is a wear component. It consists of the IDL switch and a potentiometer. Throttle response with a new one would most likely be better than you'll see with a used one. It is however just a trim sensor, it's not going to cause significant problems if you do go with a used one.
Have you actually taken off the TPS and tested the switch when the TPS is certain to be at full stop? |
how do i test the switch with it removed? I thought it could just be broken, and a new one would fix my code 51 problem. nut if checking it can save me cash that will be my route

Remove it and test for conductivity across E2 and IDL. See the TSRM for more info.
