put more fuzzy dice on the car....ull probably be able to run 6's after that upgrade.....well if u wanna stay away from a turbo..try basic bolt ons... intake, header, exhaust...lets the motor breathe a little easier...then try upgrading the fuel system...pump, injectors...since ur getting more air in there this will add teh fuel you will need for a good stochiometric ratio, upgrading a throttle body always helps, and maybe getting the head done as well as teh valvetrain...upgrading the intake manifold to make it flow better and increase the volume will make more power, also trying porting and polishing the block and the head this will increase flow...you could also upgrade suspension, and the clutch...not increase in power but increase in response and acceleration, let us know how u want the car to be setup... we'll try and help you

You won't be able to get the numbers you want unless you force some air into it or use a LOT of nitrous. The engine can be built up, but the expense would be so very high and you would have to be using race fuel with the amount of compression necessary to get the higher HP rating. I think all the really powerful guys are using turbo charging.
There seems to be a lot of options in that area and the horsepower rating can really go up with that arrangement. Noise is a product of power. If you want that air rushing in to make more power, you have to let it out and it can get loud, even though the turbo really does quieten down the exhaust noise. If you can, it would be interesting to go to a drag race where they run some of the smaller cars and see how loud they are and what they have to do to get that power. You can make a strong engine that is streetable though and a lot of people in here know how to do it or can point you in the right direction. Let us know how it goes. Russ |

Those are some steep goals.
If you're short on money, you should lighten the car. These cars are notoriously heavy. I'd start by ripping out every chair but the drivers chair, put in a tube roll cage(expansive, yes), chop out all sound insulation, all unnessicary metals everywhere, after the roll cage you can cut into the actual frame and loose some serious weight. REALLY stiff motor mounts. You'll also have to get rid of the limited slip diff and put in a full spool locker(so you'll loose most of the cars cornering.. aside from potent drifting.) Take some pictures if you manage to get in the 9's club, though. Good luck matey. |

i took out the backseats...but i have a fiberglass panel a friend and i made to make it look like its a two seater...its pretty hot....as i said before...more fuzzy dice...i think one of the big ones will get you over 1000hp....might wanna check that mod out though...i dynoed it once...1 large fuzzy dice=1000hp

Big Turbo and nitrous is about the only way to get the numbers you are looking for. The car is heavy and the engine doesn't have a lot of cubic inches. But if you do upgrade the compression and go with some nice cams and headers and a set of side draft carbs, you will have a very fast car and nothing sounds as good as a straight 6 turning lots of rpms, sucking in a lot of air!

running 8 or 9's is a very very big goal....start small..work your way up it might take a year it might take longer its a process, if you dont want it streetable...just rip everything out..and i mean everything..seats, lining, floor mats, everything...if you want to make it a street car...8 or 9's wont be practical....i would say around 12 or 13's would be more practical for an mk3 street car
