Hop isn't the problem and neither is horse power... The problem is sudden torque. Hop isn't an issue, the issue is the moment you get traction. Launching aggressively, unsprung clutches, one piece driveshafts, etc. are other killers.
A rebuilt W58 can be built up to be more robust but beyond 350RWHP I wouldn't trust it if you're a 1/4 mile type driver. I'd feel plenty confident running it at over 400 but I don't really stomp on it unless I'm on a highway or track (not a drag strip)... I'm just not an 'off the line' kind of guy. For most folks who are really serious about making big power I recommend a full swap or, better yet, sell the N/A and just start out with a turbo model.
