haha ok that was the obvious answer...since it usually solves most problems.. or you can supercharge it...but thats if you want to go the boost route...if you dont...then u have a a good start since u have the basics down, next step you need to address is fuel...more fuel...more air...get a fuel rail and a bigger intake manifold, or try velocity stacks...aka individual throttle bodies, get some cams and cam gears, get the head redone...ported and polished...same with the block...get suspension for handling...good set of coilovers or a nice combination of springs and shocks...strut bars and anti sway bars...upgrade the clutch, if you want get it tuned..with a piggyback or a standalone...depending on how much power you will want...its definitely a plus since you'll be messing with the fuel management

More hp for the mk3
I would say if you want more hp and torque that isn't too costly change your underdrive pulleys up. I got the Unorthodox racing pulleys (they make them for turbo and NA) and i can definitely feel a difference. But if you can, go with supraman and get the turbo.

Someone earlier said that underdrive pulleys are bad for mkIII's. For Supraman's info, i have a 7m-gte sittin in the garage ready to rebuild, this is just somethin between time, i figure since i have some money on the side to try and make a pretty damn fast non turbo, i think it would be an awesome accomplishment to step up next to a turbo supra and leave it in a non turbo supra.

ahh about the pulleys...all i remember is sometin about drag racing...and its better that you change them if thats how you want the car setup, turbo is always nice...though i will definitely admire you if you can hook up a nonturbo to be as fast as a turbo...without the heavy cams

Well someone commented that the crank pulley wasn't a dampener pulley. I can's understand why someone would offer one that wasn't but you need that part on the crank.
The best you can do is get the air in and out as fast as you can. Compression is the best way to get power. The turbos just stuff more air in and acts the same way as more compression. If you could bump the compression up to 11 to one, I think you can still run on pump gas. Definately get the head ported. The most restrictive part to this whole thing is the intake though. If you could get an intake that could get more air in......well good luck on that. Like I said before, you could do away with the efi system and go for a triple Webber set up that would really wake that engine up. Anyone know what cfm the N/A intake has at the butterfly? There are things you can do, but it would take an engineer to make all the mechanical and electrical things work well together. Just a chip is not worth the money for the small hp gain. Keep us up to date on how you are doing. Russ |
