Transmission

ok i have my transmission with bad synchros will mt90 make the grinding go away or not? just asking, however i have another transmission ready to install, i will be putting MT90 into it, but my question is can i put the oil into the transmission before i install it or does it have to be after its on the car? on a side note, is it easy replacing the front bearing retainer?

MT90 may help with the hurting transmission. Might not even be hurting except for crap lubrication... You may be surprised.

The gear oil must go in after the transmission is installed.

so what would you do?? I mean mt90 is like 60 dollars. Should i put it in the hurting transmission or just swap it. I have the other transmission too, i just dont want to buy transmission fluid then have to buy more if it doesnt work with the hurting one

$60??? W58 requires 2.5 qts (DRY fill), R154 requires 3.2 qts (dry again).... unless it's a rebuild which has been dismantled and cleaned out you shouldn't need more than 3qts for either model transmission. Locally I can buy this for about $12 per qt.... If you're looking at shipping it in you're doing it wrong. ;)

Lubricant quantities and specifications.

Well theres none i can find locally, i tried napa, autozone, pepboys, etc. Ill keep looking but would you buy some for the hurting transmission ?

It all depends on how bad it it. You could try another 75W-90 synthetic gear oil and see if it improves. It's worth running some less expensive stuff through it first anyway to clear out more debris.

Looking for local suppliers of Redline you should check race and performance shops. One of the big chains does carry it but their smaller locations still have to order it, it's more expensive and I can't remember who... :p

EDIT: CarQuest, PepBoys, O'Reilly, AutoZone, Advanced.... may be special order at some, but they're all dealers. Locally one or two of them actually stocks it though. I buy through a local performance shop (not a Honduh preformenz shop...).

Best i found is redline mt 90 for 13.95 a quart. And thats locally. Ill run something different to clean it out and see how it goes
