Please help

I have a 1986 non turbo Toyota supra. basically i changed the engine and it wont start for me. i tried everything. its leaking power steering fluid and when i do start it, it won't idle. I have to rev it to make it idle. When it trys to idle by it self it will just die. I looked at the timing in the distributor and it doesn't look like its missing time. My previous engine had over heating problems. I need some opinions please.

Thanks!

have you checked all of the vacuum lines? My guy leaked from the power steering pump, rebuilt it then blew the rack. Had to replace power steering pump and rack. My guy in Japan had the same trouble. 1986.5 both of them

Are the mechanical timing and ignition advance properly set? Refer to the FAQ section for a thread on the topic.

Any error codes? Again, refer to the FAQ for a thread about how-to.

open up the IACV and make sure its not turned all the way in/or out....i cant remember. i did that when i cleaned mine out. wouldnt hold idle. after several times or taking it back apart and finally screwing it out. idled just fine, and hasnt ran better than now. hope this helps :bigthumb:

The ISCV can definitely get gummed up, but unless you're also taking apart the stepper motor the plunger should not turn freely from what I recall.

Serious problems maybe!

Basically its 20 degrees off center. Its supposed to be 10 degrees center. And its running and not idling that good. But when i put it back to 10 degrees center it won't run. The distributor is fine. I have not checked my vacuum lines or my fuel pump yet. I think the timing is off in the engine or something major is wrong.

Look in the FAQ section for a thread on setting timing and set it all properly (BOTH mechanical and ignition).
