more mods needed to push more boost out of 7mgte than in a 1j
i wouldent quite say that, either way to push higher psi you need the additonal hardware to handle it like electronics and fuel ext... im not expert (far from it) but if both have a good turbo have had a motor rebuilt( done correctly) why would you need more mods for the 7m to push more boost compared to the 1j? or am i just not understanding what your saying

sounds like smokey nagata( he drove the v12 mkIV with veil side body kit) and i can slide the motor I'm running now on factory suspension and oversize tires they are heavy cars but you also got BMW Mercedes 350z's and fair lady's on the drift track too

well I'm not 100% on that but many posts and things I've seen state that the 1j is a tougher motor(can handle more boost from factory) and being a only Japanese produced motor they tend to keep the beer things for themselves such as rb20,25,26 and sr20 and so on.... I have seem built 7mgte's that can make 1000hp but as far as hear say goes 1j's can make it easier(more expensive) of course but this is my project car not my daily so I'm willing to put time to build it right

Yes, i think you're right... It was Smokey in the UK, probably down under too. The Southern hemisphere incident may have actually been in NZ.

I'm not trying to argue over which is better, at 20+ years of age it's a shit idea to drop either straight in and expect it to last. My point is that 400hp is easy for either engine (and reliably) and as you should rebuild either it's probably rhe wiser choice to use what you already have and save upward of $2000 for other stuff... Like a better oil cooling system and more efficient turbo or forged internals... And so on.

LOL... YES! It's happening RIGHT NOW as a matter of fact. I really should either setup a sub forum for 'all things swapped' or setup a filter which the instant someone tries to create a swap thread they get redirected to another forum and their account gets locked.... Ok, the latter won't happen. But a swap section may.
