It's a 20 year old engine... are you asking about the original, antique hardware or about new, OEM hardware? Old... take a guess and pray it's close. New... Well, there's someone on SM who built a completely OEM longblock just to see how much it would take before exploding... he's up to some just under 800RWHP or something crazy like that the last I saw. He has a LOT of other stuff in his build though to support it. It should die an amazing and spectacular death any day now. He'll probably even get a cool "danger to manifold" message. And no, it's not a daily driver or anything from what I recall.



I think the pistons are the weakest part of the equation. I would get an OEM set of rods balanced, shot peened and cryo'd and then get some good forged pistons.

On a bone stock, old hardware, setup you could try 10 or so. You'll hit fuel cut between 12 and 14, anyway. If there's any problem in your fuel system this is a neat way to find out.
