7MGE Starting Issue

I recent replaced the head gasket on my 91 n/a supra. It runs great now, except for when I cold start it. First thing in the morning when I start it it jumps to about 2000 rpm immediately and squeals from the belt slipping. Once its warmed up it will start just fine. Any ideas on what could be the issue?

Fix the squeal, check for diagnostic codes and make sure there are no intake leaks or vacuum leaks.

It doesn't show any codes but I thought it could be a vacuum issue but didnt find anything. Any guesses on where the issue could be.

iscv? idle speed control valve? did you take your TB off or mess with any of your cables recently?

in my experience, the only time I had high idle was when I took my throttle cable off and when re attached, it slipped and got snagged in a funky way. If you didn't remove any cables or adjusted them. recheck for leaks then diagnose your isc. yes on intake leaks also.. check around your accordion hose for unmetered air being sucked in. also on your intake plenum and lower manifold.
