Random Part Identification
Hey guys can anyone tell me what these things are....
First...this is located in the engine bay obviously..connected to the intake. its the rusted looking bung.....anyone know what it is? http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/.../WP_000351.jpg Next is this switch i think thats coming out of my shifter area...... http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/...af/S__1C21.jpg |
The rusted bung isn't stock, pretty sure the switch isn't either. You should have a port running off of the intake hose to the power steering pump, that may be someone's attempted fix to a tear or something in the past (although it isn't in the correct location)
|
I kinda thought that. Should I try and plug it? The lower bung that runs to the PS is intact, threads are bad but it functions. And the switch could that be the park brake switch? The wiring looks oem....no butt connectors or anything.
|
I'd plug it, otherwise you'll have a significant vacuum leak.
|
The switch could be the parking brake switch. Check the wiring colors against the TEWD. Does either pressing or releasing the plunger cause the "Brake" light to turn on when the ignition is on?
The hose pictured isn't stock. I'm sure it's just something someone found that would fit instead of buying a new one. The only additional port on the N/A intake is the power steering vacuum port as BT mentioned but that is before the resonator. |
Well I tried pushing the plunger and nothing happens, however I can see where the screw holes are there's metal threads so maybe it has to be grounded to complete the circuit? Im gonna ground it out later and see what happens with the circuit.
|
so i put a wire in the hole of the switch and grounded it out....it works...lol
anyone have a picture of how the switch bolts onto the ebrake assembly? And the rusted bung doesn't do anything, tried to pull it out and its in there good lol, but it doesn't pull vacuum so idk why its even there. o well. |
