Stud 3" below Oil filter
 

so coming out of the block is a stud, maybe 1,75 inches long, 3 inches below and slightly forward of the oil filter. I have no idea what it is for, anyone help me out?

I'd need to see a picture. Also, is this on a GE or GTE?

If this is the one, then you’re missing the power steering adjusting strut support.
