Compression Test
Hello, i just did a compression test on my 89 Supra Turbo (7M-GTE), and i got the following results:
Cylinder 1 12.5 Cylinder 2 10.5 Cylinder 3 11.5 Cylinder 4 10.5 Cylinder 5 11.5 Cylinder 6 12.5 Can someone help on these numbers?? Are these ok? I am confused because on the technicall manual, it says taht minimum compression is 9, and normal is 10 or higher, on the other hand the guy in the auto store told me that should be around 8.4... Thanks in advance for your help!! |
The guy at the auto store doesn't have all the info or is just basing that number off his experience with different engines.
The high numbers is most likely due to carbon buildup in the cylinders. The only are of concern is the high difference in compression between neighboring cylinders. I'd recommend either steaming the cylinders or running some Mopar Combustion Cylinder Cleaner through it (follow the directions). |
