Advice needed
So due to my fault I caused the engine to seize and now its needs to be replaced. The thing is the that the engine is a 7m-ge and I've looked online for it and I've found one or two for about $700.00. The problem is that when i called a shop for a mechanic for a quote he told me i would have trouble making it pass smog here in California because of the compression ratio? (The engines where from japan) So I want to ask here if that's really true and maybe you guys know websites where i can find engines for my supra.

Not true. At all. The ratio is the same jdm vs usdm. Just be sure to swap all of your California emissions components over from your blown engine to the jdm engine. You may want to replace your catalytic converter as well, smog requirements in that state are tough for these cars.

It should be pointed out that the is a difference in compression between GE and GTE models though. However, it's not going to cause a significant change in emissions numbers if you installed a GTE block.... You'd just lose power. For simplicity sake that's the only thing you really need to be concerned about.
My recommendation is to try to locate an engine locally and get the bottom end rebuilt (which you should do with a JDM engine anyway). Sure you find JDM engines with lower mileage but you have no idea how they were driven, how long they've sat in a rainy freight yard or dock before they were sold. With a local buy, you again are largely blind with regard to the engine's history, but you can often pick one up for a couple hundred dollars or less and spend the rest on getting the bottom end refreshed. I just saw a local guy sell a running GE for $125 and a buddy of mine bought a running GTE engine for $80.... naturally these were rather extreme deals, but they do come along.

You could find a parts car that runs. There r a few of them by me where they don't have a title but the car runs fine or has a body beat to hell. Then swap it over.
